8-23-23   THOUGHTS

The SURE WORD OF GOD is our thought for today.  Peter begins in reminder mode.  He speaks of their knowing, then a stirring up by way of reminder, and finally, they would be diligent to recall what they knew after his death.  These are good preacher thoughts.  There is nothing more necessary than God’s WORD IN THE MINDS OF MEN!  Peter notes that this word was first hand with him.  In verse 16 he notes “we were eyewitnesses of His majesty.”  The “pay attention” terminology is priceless.  May “the day dawn and the morning star arise in our hearts.”   May God’s SPIRIT WORDS abide in us powerfully!  May we receive life and zeal from knowing GOD’S PLAN FOR US!

2Pet 1:12-21      Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them, and have been established in the truth which is present with you. 13  I consider it right, as long as I am in this earthly dwelling, to stir you up by way of reminder, 14  knowing that the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. 15  And I will also be diligent that at any time after my departure you will be able to call these things to mind. 16  For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17  For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, "This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased" —  18  and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain. 19  So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20  But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 21  for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
John 6:63    "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”

My Prayer:
O God, we beg that Your Spirit words will fill us to the full!  Give us the simple desire to know You to maturity.  Arouse us and awaken us to the possibilities that wait for us in Your word.  Remind us continually of the things we do know, and give us comfort in the scriptures.  Help us, O God, to see the design for the Church of Your Son, and help us to grow in it as we help others to grow.  Keep us from standing back, and help us to step forward as we seek You and heaven.   Give us a thriving, O Lord.   In the name of Jesus,      Amen.
